The 2024 YONEX Canada Open depends upon hundreds of volunteers to perform duties such as host/hostess, line judge, set-up & tear down laborer, ticket office sales, among numerous other positions. If you are a committed individual willing to work with a team of like-minded people to make sure this is the best Canada Open yet! Then please make the commitment to VOLUNTEER - you won't regret it!
In return for your time and energy, you will be able to watch some of the top badminton athletes in the world, get fed on days you volunteer, and receive a complimentary souvenir t-shirt!
Any volunteer that works a shift will receive a volunteer voucher. Volunteer vouchers can be used to gain free entry into the arena to spectate. Please see the chart at the bottom of this page for more information on volunteer vouchers.
Volunteer roles are as follows:
Airport Attendant - meet/greet athletes and direct them to buses at the airport
Doping Control Chaperone - assist officials with collecting samples for doping tests
Equipment Pick Up - physically able bodied individuals to help with pick-up, load and transport to Venue volleyball floor, playing mats, umpire chairs, cables, tables, printers, etc.
Field of Play Set up - Physical able bodied individuals required to lay volleyball floor, lay playing mat, set up umpire chairs, lay cabling, hang signage, set-up tables, etc.
Field of Play Sweepers - Volunteers required to sweep/mop and pick up shuttles on competition courts between matches and as requested by Team Leads.
General Administration- Volunteers required to be of general assistance as needed at the Venue.
Line Judge - Volunteers (with good eyesight) required to be line judges.
Podium Preparation + Medal Ceremony - Volunteers required for podium and medal set up. Volunteers will also be used for the presentation of medals and greeting presenters.
Practice Court Monitor - Volunteers required to monitor practice courts (Sunday-Friday) ensuring that only those scheduled or upcoming athletes are on the courts.
Registration - Volunteers required to pack the athlete registration bags with donated items as well as programs and IDs. Some volunteers will also be required to transport registration bags to the Tournament Hotel. Some will also be working in registration desk.
